The Machine: a factory around an idea

In 2017 Pole introduced a hollow, CNC-machined aluminum frame. The industry media had not seen anything like it: Pinkbike called the manufacturing method an innovation. The frame, however, was only half the story.

A method that didn't exist

The frame couldn't be made with any existing manufacturing method, so we designed a completely new one. Several patents were applied for and granted. Two halves are machined and joined with structural bonding, the same technique that holds aircraft together.

The factory was built around the method

Once the method existed, we built a factory for it. The factory was arranged to keep the route from raw material to the customer as short as possible. Along the way we designed and ran a surface treatment line ourselves.

We paid for the wrong choices ourselves

Every wrong call on this journey was paid from our own pocket, not a client's. Some solutions worked and some did not. That is why production estimates are based on our own design, manufacturing and calculation.
